Starting the Year with Support: A Parent’s Guide to Santa Fe Therapy Associates

A new year often brings reflection, on our children, our families, and the places where we might need a little extra support. For many parents, therapy can feel like a difficult word to say out loud. It can bring up questions, fears, or even guilt. As a therapy parent myself, I know firsthand how hard it can be to acknowledge that your child may need help—and how powerful it can be once you do.

That’s why we’re starting the year by highlighting Santa Fe Therapy Associates (SFTA), a trusted local practice dedicated to supporting children and families with compassion, expertise, and partnership.

Therapy Is Not a Failure—It’s a Team Effort

At Santa Fam, we believe therapy is simply a way for educated, caring professionals to walk alongside parents. It’s not about something being “wrong”—it’s about building skills, confidence, and pathways toward success that honor each child’s unique needs.

Santa Fe Therapy Associates embraces this philosophy fully. Their team works with parents, not around them, recognizing that so much of a child’s growth happens at home, in daily routines, and through relationships.

Services Offered at Santa Fe Therapy Associates

SFTA offers a wide range of services for children—and adults—under one roof:

  • Orofacial Myology (for children and adults)

  • Speech-Language Therapy, including bilingual specialties

  • Feeding & Eating Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Physical Therapy

This multidisciplinary approach allows families to receive coordinated, thoughtful care tailored to the whole child.

Who They Serve

Santa Fe Therapy Associates primarily works with children ages 0–18, supporting families from infancy through adolescence. They also see many adults, particularly for Orofacial Myology and Physical Therapy, and are able to adapt care for patients of older ages as well.

For Santa Fams, it’s helpful to know that early intervention and childhood support are a core focus.

What about the Waitlist?

I hear this concern constantly, and I myself struggled with it — but SFTA gets it.

While many parents assume there’s a long wait, the reality is that Santa Fe Therapy Associates is often able to see patients relatively soon. They are open six days a week, including evening hours, which allows for more flexibility than many practices.

Scheduling can still be a challenge for families with busy lives, and SFTA thoughtfully prioritizes patients based on urgency and need (for example, a child experiencing failure to thrive may be seen sooner). If you have flexibility or immediate concerns, SFTA can be a great fit.

How to Get Started with Therapy

In many cases, a primary care provider referral is the first step, followed by a phone call to SFTA to begin the process. However, if you suspect your child may benefit from therapy and aren’t sure where to start, Santa Fe Therapy Associates is happy to help guide you through obtaining the appropriate referral or recommendation.

The takeaway? You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out. Their team is there to help. Accepting support can be one of the hardest parts of parenting—and one of the bravest. Therapy is not about labels or limitations. It’s about giving your child tools, confidence, and opportunities to thrive, and giving you support along the way.

Santa Fe Therapy Associates believes deeply in partnering with parents, creating individualized paths to success, and empowering families beyond the clinic walls. We’re grateful to have them as part of our Santa Fe community and proud to highlight their work as we begin a new year at Santa Fam.

If you’ve been wondering whether therapy might help your child, consider this your gentle nudge: it’s okay to need help—and you don’t have to do it alone!
